Oculus
What you seeThe view straight up into a dome: a ring of windows, radiating ribs and a bright centre, with pendentives in the corners and half-domes beyond.
What it meansPendentives, the curved triangles at the corners, let a round dome sit on a square room, and Ottoman interiors extend the space with half-domes on either side.
Where it worksRewards close looking in a hallway, study or above a bed.
