Arches in Light

No. 20 of 20 · free · 300 dpi

What you seeA deep clay room at night with three pointed windows high in its wall. Through them is the indigo sky with a scatter of stars and a new crescent, and their light falls from the foot of each window across the floor as a widening pale shaft, tinted with the sky and ending in the window's own pointed shape.

What it meansArched openings are the signature of Islamic architecture, and the shapes of light they throw are part of how a house is lived in from day into night. The new crescent is the sign of a new month.

Where it worksQuiet, warm and almost abstract; for a living room, a bedroom or anywhere a calm, spacious print is wanted.
