What you seeThree young fern fronds rise from the foot of a blush sheet, each still tightly coiled at the tip, in flat olive with small curled leaflets in a paler green along the outside of the coil.

What it meansA fern frond grows by unrolling: the tip is wound into a spiral and opens slowly from the base upwards. The coiled stage is called a fiddlehead, after the scroll of a violin.

Where it worksA quiet print with one gentle movement in it, for a bedroom, a bathroom or a narrow wall beside a window.
