Leaf Study
What you seeA grid of single leaves laid out like a specimen drawer on a bone ground: bay, oak, ginkgo, maple, willow, linden, sweet chestnut, ivy, ash, birch, olive and eucalyptus, each in one flat colour of sage, olive, moss, terracotta or ochre with its veins cut back to the paper.
What it meansThe leaf chart of the old natural history classroom, where leaves were pressed and set out side by side so their shapes could be compared: entire, toothed, lobed, fanned and compound.
Where it worksA patient, orderly print for a study, a kitchen or a child's room; it pairs well with Fig Leaf and Leaf in Two Tones.
