Slot Canyon

No. 19 of 20 · free · 300 dpi

What you seeLooking straight up a narrow slot canyon: smooth sandstone walls curve in from both sides in bands of colour, deep red at the edges of the frame warming through clay and ochre to gold, until only a thin, winding line of pale sky is left between them.

What it meansSlot canyons are cut by flash floods through soft sandstone, so deep and narrow that little direct light reaches the floor. The walls glow because the light is bounced down from one face to the next.

Where it worksMade for a narrow wall, a stairwell or a hallway. It is the warmest piece in the set.
