Stone Arch

No. 16 of 20 · free · 300 dpi

What you seeA thick arch of clay-coloured rock stands on an ochre plain, its underside and right faces in dark red shadow and faint bedding lines running through the stone. Through the opening a pale sun sits on the horizon of a sand-coloured plain under a peach sky.

What it meansWind and frost wear sandstone fins until only a bridge of rock is left. Seen from the right spot, the arch becomes a frame for the sun.

Where it worksMade for a hallway or a west-facing room. It is at its best in low evening light.
