What you seeStriped tiles in mustard and teal on cream, turned crosswise in turn so the grid reads like woven cane; one tile runs on the diagonal in coral.

What it meansBasket-weave tiling sets stripes at right angles in a chequer, so a flat surface seems to pass over and under itself. It appears in brick and tile floors as well as in cane and rush work.

Where it worksEven and textural, it suits a kitchen, a bathroom or a utility room.
