What it meansTatreez is Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery, traditionally worked by women on the thobe, the long embroidered dress, with motifs and colours that vary from region to region. Seen this close, it is simply thread crossing thread on a woven ground.

Where it worksTatreez as pure texture, closer to a detail photograph than a pattern. Large lattice forms in madder and cream give a big wall scale and warmth.
