What it meansOn the Palestinian embroidered dress, narrow bands of tatreez cross-stitch run around the hem, up the sleeves and along the seams. Many of these border patterns are shared widely across regions and passed from one embroiderer to the next.
Where it worksA catalogue of borders that reads as stripes from a distance and as dozens of small patterns up close. Madder, indigo, gold and olive on cream suit both warm and cool rooms.
