What you seeOne small star repeated across an indigo field, its thread shifting from madder to rose, saffron, gold and pale gold as it descends. The change happens motif by motif, never blended.
What it meansTatreez is Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery, traditionally worked by women on dresses (thobes). Embroiderers often changed thread colour from one motif to the next, so colour shifts arrive in steps rather than washes.
Where it worksA gradient built the way embroidery builds one, in whole stitches. It reads like dusk from across the room and like a textile up close.
