What it meansChevrons and zigzags are among the most common border patterns in tatreez, the Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery traditionally worked by women on dresses (thobes). They run along hems, sleeves and panel edges.

Where it worksA narrow border scaled up to fill a wall, so a small repeat becomes a strong graphic field. The bold colour makes it a centrepiece.
