Grove on Terraces

No. 7 of 20 · free · 300 dpi

What you seeOlive trees planted in offset rows, each row on its own terrace. Dry-stone walls, drawn as dashed courses, mark the edge of every level.

What it meansOlive groves on hand-built stone terraces are a defining feature of Palestinian hill agriculture. The terraces hold soil and water on the slopes, and the trees are tended over many generations.

Where it worksA landscape reduced to a pattern of trees and walls, somewhere between a print textile and a view. Greens and sage make it restful in any room.
