New Crescent
What you seeA thin gold crescent high on a midnight-blue ground. The rest of the moon's disc is just visible as a darker circle with a fine gold edge, and a single four-point star sits low to the right.
What it meansThe month of Ramadan begins and ends with the sighting of the new crescent. The faint full disc is earthshine, sunlight reflected from the earth onto the dark part of the moon, often seen beside a young crescent.
Where it worksA quiet, confident image for the start of the month that can stay on the wall long after. Gold on midnight suits a hallway or a dark-painted room.
