Trihexagonal
What you seeA panel on soft rose of burgundy hexagons, each holding a pale six-pointed star, and gold and blue triangles pointing up and down, so that a star of triangles rings every hexagon; one corner is circled where triangle, hexagon, triangle and hexagon meet at 60 and 120 degrees.
What it meansThe trihexagonal tiling, known from basket weaving as kagome, is one of the eight semiregular tilings. Its grid of hexagons and triangles is one of the frameworks on which six-fold star patterns can be set out.
Where it worksA bright, graphic plate for a kitchen, a child's room or a studio.
