Fountain Bowl

No. 4 of 20 · free · 300 dpi

What you seeA marble bowl fountain on a slender stem, spilling into an eight-point star basin in a paved court. An orange tree in a blue pot stands on each side, and behind it a horseshoe arch edged in cobalt tiles opens onto cypresses.

What it meansA bowl fountain running just enough to spill is the quietest of garden sounds, and the star basin below it is a common shape for water in courtyards from Fez to Granada.

Where it worksSymmetrical and restful, with a still centre. For a bathroom, a bedroom or above a console table.
